23 Jul The Military’s Positive Experience with Renewable Energy
On July 22, our Businesses for a Healthy Climate campaign organized a successful luncheon briefing in Norfolk, Virginia, with business and civic leaders, military leaders and top state officials, including Gen. (Ret.) Ronald Keys, former Commander of Air Combat Command at Langley Air Force Base, and Lt. Governor Ralph Northam. Co-sponsored with CNA Corporation’s Military Advisory Board, the briefing focused on the military’s positive experience with renewable energy and the need for grid resiliency. Private briefings with members of the Virginia General Assembly were held in advance of the luncheon and included Del. David Yancey (R-94th), Del. Brenda Pogge (R-96th) and Sen. John Miller (D-1st) as well as with Del. Ron Villanueva (R-21st), Del. Rob Bloxom (R-100th), Del. Bill DeSteph (R-82nd) and Sen. Kenneth Alexander (D-5th). Additional meetings were held in Richmond on the previous day with Hayes Framme, the Governor’s chief energy advisor, and Angela Navarro, who will be overseeing the development of the Department of Environmental Quality’s CPP Plan as the Deputy Secretary of Natural Resources. The briefing was followed up with an editorial board visit with the Richmond Times-Dispatch as well as with other local news outlets in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area.
